The Cutting Edge

We have a brief post today on cutters.  Have you tried one yet?  We were really impressed with Janome's Artistic cutter we used in San Antonio a few weeks ago at the Janome Impact Institute, and Brother's cutter is the Scan n Cut.  We've had some successful cutting lately at the store, and we're excited to work with you soon in our Cutter Club which we are developing right now.  It doesn't matter which cutter you own, we will currently be providing instruction and projects that will work on both machines.

A time-saving activity on a cutting machine is cutting out embroidery cut files.  No more stitching, taking off the hoop, cutting off the excess fabric, reinstalling the hoop on the machine again and again.  Using the Janome Artistic Cutter or the Brother Scan n Cut makes embroidered applique easy!

Kathy took short vids of her cutting machine in action today.  After her initial test cut, she proceeded to cut the embroidery applique pieces for her in-the-hoop mug rug project.  These were "first and only" vids, meaning no other vids were made to show only perfect steps or perfect cuts.  What you see is what she got!
After a recommended small test cut in the upper, left-hand corner of the mat, Kathy started her cutter (this particular model is the dealer model, Brother Scan n Cut CM550DX) to cut the embroidered shapes.

Once she removed her mat from the machine, she removed the excess. Yes, it's definitely time to clean the mat.  It doesn't normally take this long to remove fabric from the mat.  She has the filming in one hand and peeling with the other thing going on.

Once the excess was removed, she peeled off her shapes.

It really was that easy :) .

We can't wait to get you started with great things our cutters can do!  Not sure if a cutter is for you?  Stay tuned on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to find out the first date of our Cutting Club.  Need a cutter?  We've got them at the store ready and waiting for you.

THE DATE IS COMING SOON FOR OUR CUTTER CLUB!

And as always, check your emails from Pocono Sew and Vac!

Have a great day, and happy sewing, quilting, and embroidering from your friends at Pocono Sew and Vac!
